My Work Boots: Fifteen out of Twenty A civil engineering student reviews her work boots in just over a minute. I’m reviewing the work boots I wear for site visits in my civil engineering program. My group agreed on four criteria: comfort, protection, price and style. First, comfort. I was tired of getting sore feet in my old boots, and these are great for walking all day. They’re heavy, but they’re not hot. Four out of five. Protection is the best part: a steel toe cap, a rubber sole and really good ankle support. Five out of five. Price? They weren’t cheap, but they’re a good value: after a year on site, they still look new. Four. Style? Two out of five. But I don’t wear them at parties; I wear them on site. One small problem: the boots are great, but the laces aren’t. I’ve already replaced them twice. So, overall, fifteen out of twenty.
