Pausing for Dramatic Effect Story 2 (Kate): Part one. Listen to six lines from the stories. Mark the place where the speaker stops, just before the surprise. Story 1 (Sean): One. I roughed it in a hammock and lost every card game to his daughter. Story 4 (Emma): Two. Then the belt stopped, completely empty. Story 3 (Jake): Three. Luke had both our tickets. Story 2 (Kate): Four. Then I noticed a small sign across the street. It was my guesthouse. Story 3 (Jake): Five. He’d gotten off in Seville and taken a train back to Córdoba, to look for me. Story 4 (Emma): Six. The driver walked across the dance floor with my suitcase. Story 2 (Kate): Part two. Listen again, and repeat each line in the pause. Stop before the surprise, too.
